How to Replace PS3 Hard Drive

Tech Corner
  1. Click here and download the latest PS3 System software on a thumb drive into PS3/UPDATE folder. (i.e. F:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP)
  2. Plug the thumb drive on your PS3 to make sure that your PS3 reads the thumb drive reads properly. (Testing your thumb drive on your PS3 is imported because it’s been reported that PS3 doesn’t read every thumb drive.)
  3. To replace your hard drive watch this video below (Thanks to consolesource for such an awesome and simple video tutorial:)All you need is a relatively small philips screwdriver.

  4. After you’re done replacing the hard drive, insert the thumb drive and start the system. Follow the instructions to format your hard drive and install the system software. In a few minutes you’ll be up and running.

Nice! I got one of the older 60gb PS3’s with the full PS2 backwards compatibility. The HDD is starting to fill up, especially after doing a Linux partition.
